Malvern show

The original plan was to drive to the west country late on Friday evening, stop overnight somewhere and head up to the Malvern Motorhome Show first thing, alas the atrocious weather on Friday put paid to those plans.

Woke early Saturday morning to bright sunshine and blue skies, as the words of the song goes 'What a difference a day makes'. Quickly loaded up and headed off, quick fuel stop and the radio reminded us of a big local event that was happening early the following morning.

Had to grab a quick photo of the iconic towers before they were gone forever.
As we left the area, Lewy said she really wish she had had a second cuppa before we left, hang on, this is one of the reasons we loved the idea of a motorhome, so while she gave the dog a quick walk around a nearby park I put the kettle on. Fabulous.
Back on the road and besides a brief stopover and bakery visit for supplies we arrived at the Three Counties Showground, ended up parked next to Ol's younger brothers and sisters, I still know which I prefer.
We had already decided not to look at other motorhomes at the show, but to concentrate on specific things we needed to get. Well the show was full of stuff we didn't need, had most of the stuff we did need, TotalCool system being the main thing and we joined the Motor Caravanners Club too. But as with any such event sometimes you ended up melting the plastic, this was no exception!
Show done, relaxed in the field, bite to eat and chill in the sun for an hour before heading off for the evenings stopover, quick phone call to them and disaster, they no longer had space due to a large event taking place, strange they didn't mention that earlier in the week when I spoke to them.

We briefly popped into Upton for Lewy to see her Sister-in-Law so while they were catching up I had a frantic ring around to arrange the evenings parking.
We had planned to be heading south down the M5, but decided to call the pub we had planned to stay in on Friday, they were brilliant and looked forward to seeing us. Now because the pub is part of the BritStops scheme I wont include it's name but if you join the scheme (well worth it in our opinion) its code is SW171/19.
The food, the drink, the service and the location were all amazing, dog friendly pub and secure garden, a place we will return to again whenever we are in the area or passing through. Oh yeah and swings (Lewy loves swings!)

After breakfast, bacon sarnies, we hit the road, down the M5 to Weston-Super-Mare where we spent the day relaxing on the beach, bright and sunny still but boy what a wind coming off the sea, a nice long walk before getting back to Little Ol and watching many families trying to enjoy picnics while everything got blown around.
Albert loved his new bed, but still prefers to sit on top of the cushions.
Finally began to cloud over, so time for one last pic before heading home. A great second trip in Little Ol.

First weekend away

After finally collecting our MH at the beginning of the month this weekend saw our first outing. As a little tribute to my mum we took Little Ol' to where mum had lived for many years.

After visiting some special places filled with amazing memories, we spent the night at a nearby BritStop and enjoyed our first meal cooked in the MH washed down with a drop of red.

Up early the following morning and gave the dog a great walk, before coming back and making the Mrs a wake up cuppa.

After breakfast we went off to visit my uncle and show him the MH named after his sister before we headed off to Rutland Waters for a relaxed afternoon between showers.

My good lady runs her own business so between showers we took cover in our little home from home and she loved her office with a view.

All in all a great weekend, obviously a few teething problems, not least the hot water not working, hey we had a kettle and I've since fixed it.

Looking forward to many many more weekends away and raising a glass or a mug to my mum.
